Even if you haven't experienced it yourself, just about everyone knows a horror story about a stolen bike even after securely locking it in place. With nearly 1.5 million thefts a year, it's clear a major problem is at hand, which is what caused former Boeing and Jawbone engineers to join forces and create, Skylock.

Skylock utilizes a highly reinforced U-shaped lock design that unlocks wirelessly through your smartphone. To further improve security, the Skylock is touch sensitive, and will send a auto alert to your cellphone when your lock is being held for an extended amount of time, aka a thief attempting to crack the lock. Not only does the Skylock thwart off thief's, but it also contains an internal accelerometer that syncs with your smartphone and can determine if a crash has occurred and will alert emergency services. If all this isn't enough, the Skylock is also solar-powered so there's no ill effects on the environment, which many bikers are highly conscious of.

Check out the video further detailing the Skylock and it's features, and if interested, you can preorder from their website for a discounted price.
