adidas made some serious noise last year with the introduction of the Energy Boost model, and in just a few days, they'll take their innovations one step further in the form of the Energy Boost 2.

Officially releasing on Wednesday, February 26, the Energy Boost 2 takes everything that made the original model great and adds subtle tweaks for improved performance. After thorough testing and feedback on the first Energy Boost, adidas has altered the Techfit upper to provide an even more natural, sock-like fit. The one-piece upper now features an overlay that wraps around the heel, providing better lockdown than the previous design.

As for the Boost technology itself, not much has changed. It's still the great, innovative cushioning that made runners fall in love with the Energy Boost in the first place. Runner's World magazine named its energy return as the industry leader after going head-to-head with 800 other shoes, and its groundbreaking engineering allows for the cushioning to retain its bounce long after most cushioning setups have worn out.
