The NFL Scouting Combine kicks off this weekend, which means some of the top college athletes will get a chance to upgrade their draft stock. The Combine also means footwear brands like adidas will get to show off their latest football gear, particularly in the footwear dept. To make sure players are able to perform at their peak in Indianapolis, adidas unveils the new adizero 5-Star 40 cleat.

In a nutshell, the 5-Star 40 is a blend of the adidas adizero Prime track spike worn by Tyson Gay at the 2012 London Olympics and the adizero 3-Star 3.0 football cleat. The result is an ultra light 4.6-ounce gridiron shoe that is designed for top-notch speed. The 5-Star 40 features a seamless Sprintweb upper complete with a laminate composite that locks the foot in place. Its Sprintstuds promote a more aggressive toe-off—something that will definitely come into play during the oh-so-important 40-yard dash.

From what we hear, this is a limited edition release. So strike fast.
