Brooks Shelter Lite

KNOW YOUR TECH breaks down the scientific technology used in your favorite sneakers and activewear. Let’s demystify your next purchase: today’s technology is Brooks Shelter Lite. Designed to keep athletes dry in the rain, this fabric technology is engineered stretch and breathe comfortably while also providing wind and water protection. Whether you're looking to layer up for a winter run or prepare ahead of time for spring showers, Brooks Shelter Lite is a lightweight solution for outdoor activity.

What is it? Brooks Shelter Lite is a fabric constructed of 22-denier microfiber polyester. In layman's terms, this means that Brooks Shelter Lite garments are soft, swishy, and durable. It's enhanced with a water-resistant and windproof treatment to protect athletes during precipitation, and is one of the lightest performance fabrics around.

How does it work? Brooks Shelter Lite maintains an incredibly light weight without sacrificing performance. Through its 22-denier microfiber polyester construction, Brooks Shelter Lite is able to shield wind and rain without the bulk found in many weather-resistant garments. Its incredibly light weight (the Brooks LSD Lite jacket weighs in at just over 4 oz) allows it to be easily packed and layered on top of heavier garments.

Notable products: Brooks Infiniti Running Shorts III, Brooks LSD Lite Jacket III, Brooks Women's Nightlife LSD Jacket III

Bottom line: Although it's not suited for serious winter weather, Brooks Shelter Lite is an ideal solution for running comfortably in the rain.
