For cyclists who constantly have to dip and dodge pedestrians and drivers in the bustling city streets, a bike helmet is an essential safety feature that can literally mean the difference between life and death. But lets face it—overbearing bike helmets aren’t just uncomfortable, but they tend to cramp a rider’s style. The solution to the problem? The mighty “invisible helmet.”
Created by two Swedish industrial design students, the Hovding (invisible helmet) is truly a game-changer in the urban cycling market. A departure from traditional design, it is an air bag that uses a helium gas cylinder to inflate when its sensors detect a sudden jolt caused by impact. Best of all, this isn’t just a theory. The concept has been proven and tested thoroughly. The helmets are CE labeled, meaning they comply with EU safety standards.
