Ryan Hall Marathon

For the second consecutive year, American distance runner Ryan Hall will not participate in the New York City Marathon due to injury issues.

Hall also missed this year’s Boston Marathon—a race in which he finished fourth back in 2011—due to a lingering injury hip injury, and worst yet, there’s no telling when the two-time Olympian will be able to compete again on the marathon circuit.

The 31-year-old Hall wasn’t the favorite to win next month’s NYC Marathon by any stretch, but his absence in one of the most prestigious races could be a significant blow to American running. Fortunately, fellow American and 2009 NYC marathon champ Meb Keflezighi will be there at the starting line on November 3.
