One of the most surprising and highly-talked about training shoes of the year has been the Nike CJ81 Trainer Max, the first signature shoe of NFL star receiver Calvin Johnson of the Detroit Lions. Johnson, also known most famously as "Megatron" (from the "Transformers" franchise) has devastated defenses with his high level of skill, size, and athleticism, and his shoes build tremendously on that. From Nike's Training Division, the CJ81 Trainer Max (made complete with a perforated upper for flexibility, a midfoot strap for lockdown, and Max Air in the heel for large-area comfort) is one of the very best trainers -- and now it's getting the Oregon treatment.

Loved by Nike as a testing ground for footwear and apparel, the University of Oregon football team often gets special makeups of the top shoes produced by the Swoosh, and the CJ81 Trainer Max is no different. Instead of the blue and silver from the initial release colorway, the CJ81 Trainer Max "Oregon Ducks" edition is predominately black with matte yellow gold trim in the laces, perforations, and stitching among other places.

These are likely a player-only release, but look for more colorways of the CJ81 Trainer Max to appear as the NFL, collegiate, and prep football season progress.
