Nike Lunarlon isn't as mysterious a technology as when it first was debuted more than five years ago, but before, it was a mind-bending concept. Developed through testing with astronautical scientists, Lunarlon gained its reputation from its origins as a kind of 'moon shoe' technology (from the bounce you feel when you're running or jumping like an astronaut on the moon). None of us have been on the moon and Nike has never really made a shoe strongly plays up the concept before -- at least not until recently.

A sample of what is being called Nike's Lunar Sprint appears to be a running shoe amped up on rocket boosters. Without even acknowledging the bright blue hue, the Lunar Sprint has a beefed-up Lunarlon sole that looks to be dual-density in nature. It's segmented into stout columns and pulling it all together is a whole set of Dynamic Flywire cables that extend from the sole clearly to the laces that are pulled through it. A full mesh upper sets it off for light weight and breathability, only strengthening its future production as a running shoe.

Not much is known at the moment about the Nike Lunar Sprint, but stay tuned to Sneaker Report for more about its future.
