Just in time for fall and winter training, Nike introduces a mid-top version of its popular Free Trainer 3.0 sneaker complete with water resistant Shield treatment for all-weather use.

Featuring a flexible similar cage-like upper seen on the standard Free 3.0, the Free Trainer 3.0 Mid Shield is designed to provide athletes with increased coverage without sacrificing natural motion and durability. The shoe comes with a notched three-quarter length inner spandex-based sleeve for a sock-like fit, and features a polyurethane layer to keep water out.

The wrap-around design of the sidewalls offers proper ankle support for all types of workouts, helping keep the midfoot and heel stable during multi-directional movements. For comfort, Nike has added its Phylon midsole, which is both lightweight and durable. The Phylon unit is housed on a Nike Free outsole with deep grooves for flexibility.

The Nike Free Trainer 3.0 Mid Shield will be available starting October 1, 2013. Find it at your local sneaker shop, or online at Nike.
