It wasn't a no hitter, but Ervin Santana pitched one hell of a game as the Kansas City Royals downed the Detroit Tigers last night 1-0. The 2008 All-Star pitcher never let a runner to hit second base, allowing just two singles and a walk over a 7 1/3 inning period. While there's been rumbles of Santana being traded soon, one can't help but think Kansas City might reconsider after tonight's showing.

Santana struck out six batters, walked one, and helped Kansas City end a frustrating five-game losing streak. "Everything was working, especially my location. Everything was down," said Santana. Closer Greg Holland picked up his 23rd save in 25 games, adding that, "Santana was unbelievable. I watched the first three innings in here (clubhouse) on TV and I thought he had a chance to throw a no-hitter."

Santana wore the Nike Air MVP Pro Metal, which seems to be a favorite amongst many of the league's pitchers. The MVP Pro Metal's no-frills construction features a synthetic leather upper, dynamic fit sleeve, and heel Air cushioning for comfort on the mound.
