Since coming into existence in the early ‘90s, action sports brand Volcom has been catering to skaters, surfers, and snowboarders alike with their West Coast-style apparel and accessories. Now, over 20 years later, Volcom is taking a step into the footwear category with the launch of a first-ever closed-toe footwear collection for Fall 2013.

Volcom is a pretty well know skate brand here in the states, so it’s shocking that it hasn’t manufactured sneakers up until now to go with its successful sandal offerings. Nonetheless, Volcom’s latest venture into the shoe category marks a significant milestone for the brand, one that should add a new breath of life into it.

Volcom’s Fall 2013 collection looks to be pretty extensive, featuring nearly a dozen footwear styles ranging in fabric from waterproof leather to traditional canvas. Among them are a couple of skate-friendly shoes (seen above) that look quite comfortable and stylish. The rest of the collection has more of a lifestyle vibe to it. However, all of the footwear will sport Volcom’s Recliner Comfort Foam technology, which the brand first introduced in its Recliner sandal in 2012.

The collection will be available for both men and women starting in July 2013.
