We’re now just weeks away from getting our hands on what Nike proclaims as its “most advanced training shoe ever.” Consistent with the release of the Air Max+ 2013, the Nike Free Trainer 3.0 will be available starting January 1st, 2013.

Nike training sneakers have come a long way since the legendary Bo Jackson helped the brand launch a game-changing campaign for the Air Trainer 1 in 1987. Today, Nike has taken the basic performance elements of the past and has added modern innovations and athlete insight to create a minimalist-friendly training sneaker.

With reduced weight and increased flexibility, the Free Trainer 3.0 has an upper that features strategically placed polyurethane lines for support and durability. The sneaker’s 3.0 rating on the Nike Free scale means it has a low-to-the-ground feel that mimics barefoot running.  Its Dynamic Fit system offers a lockdown fit, with the Phylon midsole adds responsive cushioning to the mix.

Stay tuned for more on the Free Trainer 3.0.
