The Portland Trail Blazers just got a makeover for the upcoming NBA season. Coming off a disappointing 2011-12 NBA season, Rip City is hoping their new alternate uniforms will help revamp the recently-struggling franchise.

The predominantly red uniforms are designed to show the rich heritage of the Blazers, while still managing to incorporate a modern twist to the design. The trademark stripes on the jerseys have been updated to represent speed and agressive competition, while the retro font on the front of the unis is a nod to city it represents. Aside from the design changes, the uniforms are the lightest ever made—40% lighter to be exact.

Portland will debut the new look in front of home fans, when they tip off the 2012-13 NBA season against the Los Angeles Lakers.
