With all the attention the University of North Carolina basketball program receives—and for good reason—folks outside of the ACC tend to forget that the Tarheels have a pretty decent football team as well. Well on Saturday the football team decided to work itself into the spotlight by unveiling a sweet new helmet design from HGI.
For their cross-state showdown against North Carolina Sate, the Tarheels did away with their traditional power blue lids for a flashy chrome look. The “UNC” lettering is replaced by a powder blue foot logo with a tar blotch on the heel (pretty self-explanatory). Perhaps it's time to update our 25 Best College Football Helmets of 2012 list.
