Asics Running is getting set to debut two updated sneakers—the GEL-Excel33 2, and the GEL-Lyte33 2—as part of the popular Asics 33 collection for Spring 2013.

To take an already impressive series to an even higher level, Asics has infused it with a brand new technology called FluidAxis. With a specific focus on the joints, the revolutionary technology recognizes and responds to runner’s exact load and positional change from first impact to toe-off. The sneakers feature deep flex grooves in the rearfoot to allow the foot to move in a natural range of motion.

Weighing in at 8.5 ounces, the GEL-Lyte33 2 is the lightest shoe offered by Asics. While the GEL-Excel33 2 isn’t quite as light, it has received a slight weight reduction from the previous version. Also new to the GEL-Excel33 2 is a new mono-sock upper that works to create a secure and comfortable fit.

The latest editions to the Asics 33 collection will be available for $125 starting December 1st, 2012 (with a nationwide drop date set for January 2013.
