Earlier today, adidas welcomed the newest edition to its basketball family, Minnesota Timberwolves superstar Ricky Rubio.

At the age of 21, Rubio has a bright future ahead of him in the NBA, and teaming up with adidas may just accelerate that process. Prior to coming to the NBA, Rubio had a prolific European basketball career, one that includes a silver medal performance at the 2008 Olympics.

adidas vice president of global basketball, Lawrence Norman, had this to say about the latest acquisition: “Ricky Rubio is a once-in-a-generation player. His work ethic and selflessness combined with his superior athleticism and playmaking have quickly made him one of the most exciting young players in the game.  When you watch Ricky on the court and talk to him after practice, you understand his pure enjoyment of playing basketball and that makes him a perfect fit for our brand.”

Rubio joins an adidas basketball roster that includes the likes of 2012 NBA MVP Derrick Rose, three-time NBA Defensive Player of the Year Dwight Howard, and four-time NBA Champion Tim Duncan. Stay tuned for continuing updates on Rubio and adidas Basketball.
