Earlier today in London, Alistair Brownlee became the first British athlete ever to win an Olympic triathlon— and he did it in adidas.

Brownlee laced up in a pair of all-red adiZero Hagio running shoes on his way to becoming the 19th British gold medalist at the 2012 games. After building a sizeable lead after the first two legs, the 24-year-old Brownlee finished the 10km running portion of the event with great ease. The lightweight and flexible Hagios kept his feet churning all the way to the finish line, at which point Brownlee finally hit the deck from exhaustion.

Who knew a pair of $65 running kicks would lead to Olympic glory.

Even more remarkably, Alistair’s younger brother Jonathan joined him on the podium with a bronze-medal finish, despite a 15-second penalty.
