This is another one of those Nike moments that changes everything. Around 2000, the matter of making a training shoe that carried the benefits of barefoot running. In 2004, it dropped, complete with stern warnings about potential pain. No complaints or reports of injury materialized, but these shoes were still a serious business. This Nike Free's 5.0 put it half way between barefoot (0.0) and a standard Nike running shoe of that time. Now Free-style flex siping are a standard issue on nearly every performance shoe on the market. An influential release.
