30. Nike Epic
Arguably one of the finest of all Nike designs, the Epic wasn't cheap at $100, and arrived around the same time as the Vengeance, with the superb V-Series combining the following year working in some similar design elements. There's plenty of Nike running designs that don't get the respect they deserve — the Support and Structure II for instance — but this model's been given a good retro treatment with the super-limited Footpatrol edition from 2003 (bizarrely, a Hyperstrike pair went on sale in the NORT closing sale for around $20). The original's muted color scheme betrayed the supportive design, Air Wedge application and crucial to the shoe's appeal, that perforated heel section with the Scotchlite underlay for total visibility.
