Amazon has enlisted Joe and Anthony Russo, along with David Weil, for an eight-part limited series on the downfall of FTX, as reported by Deadline

The series order comes one day after the outlet reported Amazon was among the companies outbid by Apple in acquiring the rights to an upcoming book from Michael Lewis about the time he spent with FTX founder Sam Bankman-Fried in the months leading up to the infamous collapse of the cryptocurrency exchange.

Weil created Hunters, the Prime Video series starring Al Pacino and executive produced by Jordan Peele. It will premiere its second season in January 2023. Weil said to be creating and writing the pilot for the FTX limited series, for which the Russo Brothers are in talks to direct. The two will also serve as executive producers through AGBO, the studio they co-founded.

The Russos are widely known for directing Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame. In an interview with Variety, the duo said they will not be able to work with Marvel Studios “until the end of the decade.” During that time, the Russo Brothers have a few projects lined up, including a sequel to the Netflix film The Gray Man, and a Hercules live-action adaptation.

The rise and fall of FTX has become an incredibly appealing story in Hollywood. Aside from the projects seized by Amazon and Apple, writer and director Graham Moore (The Outfit, The Imitation Game) will pen and direct an adaptation of a New York magazine article on the topic, and there are already two documentaries in the works, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
