Rory, Mal, and Joe Budden Live Podcast in NYC

It turns out there is life after Joe Budden.

Not long after leaving The Joe Budden Podcast, former co-hosts Rory Farrell and Jamil “Mal” Clay started their own podcast, New Rory and Mal this summer.

Now, the duo’s independent venture has been picked up by SiriusXM’s Stitcher, and will be released through Stitcher’s new More Sauce Label. In a new interview with Vulture, Rory and Mal discussed their partnership with Stitcher and their post-Joe Budden Podcast plans, with Rory saying that working with Stitcher “made the most sense.”

“There were other offers with more money on the table, but they didn’t align with what we were trying to do. We just didn’t feel the same connection with those other people,” Mal added.

The pair said they want to “add some new elements” into the podcasting world, like sketches, and different types of interviews, because as Rory put it, fans have been “really gravitated toward the sketch stuff and the other things we’ve been adding.”

Rory and Mal are also slated to do live shows in New York and Los Angeles in November, with more en route next year. They both also confirmed that they own 100 percent of their show.

“I’m excited that the creative agenda for this show will be to push the show forward rather than push a particular person forward,” Rory said. “There’s so much we can do when egos are stripped, when our actual focus is not a personality, it’s the show. That’s what I’m excited for.”

The first episode of New Rory and Mal under the new partnership with Stitcher is set to arrive on Nov. 2, with new installments dropping every Tuesday and Friday.
