Everything We Know About Rihanna and ASAP Rocky’s Baby Boy, So Far

In March 2020, the “Work” singer spoke with Vogue UK about her plans to expand her family. At the time, Rihanna explained that she wanted “three or four” kids. She added that she would make her dream a reality, with or without a partner. “I feel like society makes me want to feel like, ‘Oh, you got it wrong…’ They diminish you as a mother if there’s not a dad in your kids’ lives,” she said. “But the only thing that matters is happiness, that’s the only healthy relationship between a parent and a child. That’s the only thing that can raise a child truly, is love.”

After welcoming their baby boy in 2022, a source told Us Weekly that RiRi plans to keep that dream alive. “They want a big family for sure. Rihanna loved being pregnant and fully embraced her pregnancy body,” the insider dished.

On May 13, 2022, Rocky and Rihanna’s bundle of joy made his entrance into the world. After confirming that they were expecting, the couple never publicly announced their due date. However, fans speculated that their baby boy might arrive in May after RiRi was spotted wearing a charm bracelet that featured a May birthstone.

In May, it was reported by Us Weekly that Rihanna and Rocky only shared the name of their son with close family members. “They are keeping it a secret until they’re ready to share it with the world,” the source said at the time. “Rihanna wants her Barbados heritage honored when she names her child, [as well as] A$AP’s roots. They want both of their cultures included. It is very important to them to keep where they are from passed down to their child.”

As fans may recall, Rihanna was seen rocking a D necklace in October, possibly hinting at her son’s name. There still aren’t any updates on the name at the time of writing.

While on the set of her Savage x Fenty Vol. 4 show, the singer spoke with PEOPLE about her then-6-month-old son. Rihanna said she was obsessed with her little one’s personality. "He is funny, he's happy — and he's fat!" she gushed, before laughing. "He's amazing. It's a real cuddly stage right now."

During an interview with Complex in December, Rocky opened up about how fatherhood has changed him. He explained that every aspect of his life is now influenced by his new role. “Honestly, I think fatherhood gives me more time to do exactly what I want. I don’t have time for anything that isn’t priorities. It helps you prioritize, honestly,” he explained. “I love it. Everything is just based around my newfound love for being a dad and a family man. It’s lit right now. I can’t even describe it. Yo, you see this smile!”
