Nick Cannon may be slowing down on the babies—or not.
The father of seven, four of whom were born in the last year, caught up with Entertainment Tonight before the launch of his daytime talk show Nick Cannon to explain why the world has been seeing so many Cannons. He insisted he’s “not sitting out here planning it” even if it looks that way.
“My therapist says I should be celibate,” Cannon, 40, said with a big laugh. “You agree with the therapist? I’mma take a break from having kids.”
Asked how many babies “is enough,” he answered a little more seriously. “This is the thing...you can’t be like, ‘No, I’m done.’ Like, what if God says, ‘No, you not.’ I was always like, ‘Yo, I want a big family,’ too. So, you know, the lord has blessed me with what I asked.”
On the topic of his self-titled talk show, he explained, “[I’ve] never been a person that’s shied away from talking about my life. But I want to refocus it on others. I’m gonna be talking for an hour each and every day, hopefully people get to know me in a very intimate way. If I’m in the headlines the night before, I’m definitely talking about it the next morning.”
Cannon’s kids include Zion and Zillion with Abby De La Rose, Zen with Alyssa Scott, Monroe and Moroccan Scott with Mariah Carey, and Golden “Sagon” and Powerful Queen with Brittany Bell.
Caught by TMZ earlier this month, Cannon was asked if he’s going to keep having children. “God willing,” he answered. “If God sees it that way, then that’s what I’m gonna keep doing.”
