Portrait of Doug Ford and Justin Trudeau as clowns

Toronto artist Amer Sal Mohammed, or Amer SM is clowning around with his latest piece featuring none other than Ontario Premier Doug Ford and Prime Minister Justin Trudeau dressed up as Ronald McDonald and Joaquin Phoenix’s Joker.

The piece is titled “Welcome to Canada” and it’s part of his very first NFT collection. It includes an animated GIF of the money burning as it pours down around Ford and Trudeau as they shake hands.

“Watching social media is what inspired me to create this piece. Given the current health climate, the masses on social media seem to be coping with the unknown through comedy or trolling. Over time, I have noticed that the comment section on all posts regarding their names is filled with the clown emoji,” he explained on the bidding page for the piece. “Hence, the idea sparked to paint them as actual clowns. I have Doug Ford featured as Ronald McDonald as he loves their food and Justin Trudeau as the most popular clown of all time, The Joker.”

Despite the outward political message the art appears to send of the Premier and PM being clowns, Sal Mohammed noted that the piece is not a reflection of his personal feelings on Ford or Trudeau’s work.

Sal Mohammed has previously created custom work for Drake, Rick Ross, The Game, the Toronto Raptors’ Fred VanVleet and more. His artwork ranges from personalized digital art, oil and acrylic paintings, furniture designs, and skateboards.
