Director Alex Garland of Ex Machina, Devs, and Annihilation is at the helm for Men, a new horror entry from A24 starring current Oscar nominee Jessie Buckley.
The Fargo alum, as teased in a newly released trailer, plays a woman by the name of Harper who heads out to the English countryside in an effort to give herself time to reflect and heal following a traumatic incident. Harper’s stay, however, soon takes a tragedy-reviving turn.
Catch the new Men trailer up top via A24, as well as a just-released poster for the Garland-penned film below. Starring alongside Buckley are Rory Kinnear and Paapa Essiedu. A theatrical drop date is set for May 20.
A24, of course, is fresh off the rollout of Ti West’s X, a Kid Cudi-featuring offering that’s been met with both critical and commercial success since its release this month. Additional upcoming entries in the ubiquitous brand’s consistently-raved-about catalog include Everything Everywhere All at Once, out this week, and the SXSW-premiered slasher Bodies Bodies Bodies.
This Sunday, Buckley is among those nominated for Best Supporting Actress at the 2022 Oscars, earning the nod for her widely acclaimed turn in Maggie Gyllenhaal’s The Lost Daughter. Olivia Colman leads the cast of the Netflix-distributed film, also penned by Gyllenhaal, and was herself nominated in this year’s Best Actress category.
