Amanda Bynes has reportedly checked into a mental health facility in the Los Angeles area.

Bynes, whose Paper mag cover was quite the viral moment in 2018, reportedly checked into a rehab facility in January. According to TMZ, Bynes had been in "a backslide" that's said to have been exacerbated by the renewed attention that came from the cover and her return to acting.

The report, citing sources close to the family, adds that Bynes is receiving treatment for drug addiction and mental health issues. A conservatorship established by her parents is still in effect, though it's been under the operati on of a "mental health professional" since 2014.

During the Paper cover interview published in November, Bynes spoke candidly about a period of depression she experienced following the release of her 2006 comedy She's the Man. "When the movie came out and I saw it, I went into a deep depression for 4-6 months because I didn't like how I looked when I was a boy," she told Abby Schreiber, adding that she'd never previously disclosed this.

In the same interview, Bynes—who said she was nearly four years sober at the time—described a period in her life in which she had begun spending time in isolation with "a seedier crowd." This period, she explained, also resulted in her previously controversial social media presence.

"I can't turn back time but if I could, I would," she said at the time. "And I'm so sorry to whoever I hurt and whoever I lied about because it truly eats away at me. It makes me feel so horrible and sick to my stomach and sad."

Bynes' most recent film credit is for her memorable appearance in the excellent 2010 comedy Easy A. In December, her fellow What I Like About You star Leslie Grossman said he had spoken with her about making a return to acting. According to Grossman, Bynes was "very eager" to get back into it.
