In a strange turn of events, the teenager who became a meme with his delightful yearbook photo has committed suicide. Draven Rodriguez was a senior at Schenectady High School in upstate New York. He gained internet fame when his proposed senior year book photo, an intentionally silly portrait of Rodriguez and his cat Mr. Bigglesworth, went viral. It was rejected because of school policy, but the photo was going to be included on its own page with a message about adopting shelter animals.

"He wasn't trying to stir things up with it. He honestly just wanted a silly photo because he had a great sense of humor," his father said. Rodriguez died Thursday; his parents told the Times-Union the cause of death was suicide. He was only 17.
