World Trade Center Head of Security Steps Down

Can't say this was unexpected.

Amidst an overwhelming amount of bad press following embarrassing security breaches, the head of security at the World Trade Center has resigned.

NBC New York reports that Jordan Barowitz, spokesman for 1 World Trade Center manager the Durst Organization, confirmed that David Velazquez stepped down yesterday. The company had handled security at the site since January, a job that had largely gone without conflict until recently.

After a 16-year-old and a group of BASE jumpers eluded security with relative ease, two brilliant CNN producers failed miserably at doing the same and it was revealed that two security guards were dismissed for sleeping on the job, the death rattle on Velazquez's tenure with the Durst Organization had grown increasingly louder.

It was only a matter of time.
