Theodore Wafer, the man shot and killed 19-year-old Renisha McBride after she knocked on the door of his Michigan home last fall, has been convicted of second-degree murder, using a firearm in commission of a felony and manslaughter.
McBride crashed her car about three hours prior to her death and approached the 55-year-old's Dearborn Heights, Mich. home during the early hours of Nov. 2, allegedly pounding on his door in search of help. Wafer, who told prosecutors that he feared for his life, retrieved his shotgun and opened fire. McBride was struck in the face and died instantly.
According to the Detroit News, the prosecution argued that Wafer should've opted to call 911 instead of fetching his gun. Wafer faces life in prison.
