Authorities in New Orleans say a man shot his best friend because he didn't bring him the beer he wanted.
According to the New York Daily News, 64-year-old Clarence Sturdivant shot 66-year-old Walter Merrick in the elbow over the mistake back on March 7. The Daily News adds that the two friends argued over superior beer brands in the parking lot of their apartment complex prior to the shooting.
Shortly after Merrick was rushed to the hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police pulled Sturdivant over, discovering cartridges for a 20-gauge shotgun inside of his vehicle. Although he admitted to shooting Merrick, he claimed it was because Merrick had threatened him with a gun first.
Regardless, he was arrested on charges for failing to appear in court for an unrelated offense, while Merrick was charged with aggravated assault.
