A rookie LAPD officer who's been linked to a homicide has been MIA since the shooting, authorities say.

According to the Los Angeles Times, probationary officer Henry Solis was off-duty when Salome Rodriguez, 23, was fatally shot near a Pomona, Calif. bar on Friday:

Pomona police said the fatal shooting occurred about 3:30 a.m., when police received multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots in the area of Third and Main streets.

The shooting followed an altercation at a bar in a district of downtown Pomona packed with nightclubs and lounges, Pomona Police Cpl. Rich Martinez said. The fight proceeded down the street to about a block away from the bar district, where the shooting took place.

Officers arrived to find a 23-year-old man who had been shot in the lower torso. Paramedics took him to a hospital, where he died.

The Times reports that Solis, 27, has not reported to work since.

In a statement released yesterday evening, the Pomona Police Department said they have reason to believe that "[Solis] knows the police are looking to talk to him." Although Pomona police have informed the LAPD that he's a person of interest in their investigation, LAPD Spokesman and Cmdr. Andrew Smith it remains too soon to speak on Solis' possible involvement in Rodriguez's death.

Still, the Times adds that the LAPD is assisting Pomona police in their investigation.
