Authorities in Michigan have charged a woman with murder after she gave birth in an office bathroom and claimed she had a miscarriage.

According to the Detroit Free Press, 25-year-old Kimberly Pappas had her son in the bathroom of Ceva Logistics, her temporary employer last month. The Free Press adds that the Wyandotte, Mich. resident used cuticle scissors to cut the umbilical cord, then placed the child inside a drawer inside of her desk after placing it in a plastic bag. It remained there from "15 to minutes to an hour," the Free Press reports.

Pappas' co-workers called 911 after finding blood on the bathroom floor, and she told them she had suffered a miscarriage. However, an autopsy revealed that suffocation was the cause of death. As a result, Pappas was charged with murder, premeditated murder, and first-degree child abuse on Friday.

Pappas, who had reportedly been in therapy to deal with mental health problems, will next appear in court in June after being evaluated for competency.
