Has San Francisco Slowly Become New York City?

While there's obviously only one New York City, a recent New York magazine article argues that San Francisco might be transforming into something more New York than New York itself.

Consider the exodus of fed up Wall Street refugees who headed West in search of something new:

Furthermore, it sure as hell ain't cheap, either:

The article also claims that San Francisco is turning into a place that people flock to in order to puff their chests out when they succeed:

While the article makes several interesting claims, San Francisco isn't New York, never will be and probably doesn't want to be. It's its own universe, and it's probably comfortable with that. It's still the weird, West Coast cousin that the article said it used to be, it's just more successful now.
