Evidence suggesting that a Chicago police commander threatened a suspect by shoving a gun inside of his mouth has resulted in the commander's arrest, authorities say.

According to the Chicago TribuneCmdr. Glenn Evans was charged with official misconduct and aggravated battery yesterday. In January 2013 Evans, who led the Grand Crossing patrol district on the city's South Side, allegedly chased 24-year-old Rickey J. Williams with two other officers after allegedly spotting him with a gun.

Although they eventually apprehended Williams in an abandoned home, they were unable to locate the weapon. They still arrested Williams on reckless conduct charges, and, at some point during his arrest, Evans is said to have placed a gun inside of his mouth. The Tribune adds that Williams' DNA was found on the barrel of Evans' gun by an Illinois State Police crime lab.

The Tribune also notes that Evans was one of 662 officers with at least 11 complaints filed against them during a five-year stretch during the beginning of the last decade. What's more, he was also reportedly a defendant in numerous police misconduct lawsuits.
