New month, new #Hamildrop.
For the latest installment of his yearlong series, Lin-Manuel Miranda has linked up with his good friend and famed parodist Weird Al Yankovic to release “The Hamilton Polka”—a five-minute medley of Hamilton tracks reinterpreted through an accordion. The track is mash-up of Miranda’s “Wait For It,” “The Schuyler Sisters,” “Yorktown,” “The Room Where It Happens,” “Right Hand Man,” and more.
“I didn't know it was going to be five minutes when I began putting it together,” Yankovic told Rolling Stone. “The score for it was like 80 pages long. I was getting scared and was thinking, ‘This is going to be like a 10-minute polka medley. That's pretty unwieldy.’ […] I was intimately familiar with the soundtrack since I've heard it a gazillion times. Going through it I realized that everything in the first act is great and in the second act it gets really sad and dark. There's not a lot from the second act. I wanted to keep it very upbeat and not talk about people dying in orphanages.”

Miranda and Yankovic will also appear on Friday’s episode of The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, where they are expected to lip-sync to the polka-based track.
The #Hamildrop series, which was announced in December 2017, will deliver new Hamilton content every month for exactly one year. The first drop was the Decemberists’ take on the “Ben Franklin’s Song,” which was followed by a video for “Wrote My Way Out” featuring Nas, Dave East, and Aloe Blacc, in addition to its remix featuring Royce Da 5’9”, Joyner Lucas, and Black Thought.
