Disney fans now have another reason to give thanks: The entertainment giant has finally released the first official trailer for Jon Favreau's The Lion King. It's equal parts breathtaking and nostalgia-inducing.

The one-and-a-half minute teaser re-imagines the iconic "Circle of Life" sequence that opened the 1994 original. We see animals of the Serengeti flock to Pride Rock for the presentation of their next king. The scene is preceded by one of the film's most famous quotes delivered by James Earl Jones: "Everything the light touches is our kingdom [...]"

Judging by the trailer, director Favreau accomplished his goal.

"[The Lion King] came out in the age of video where people were watching it over and over again. So I have to prioritize that when I’m directing. I have to try and honor what was there," he said in April 2017. "[...] I tried to keep it on the edge of being real. The Lion King, people really know it and they grew up with it. They have an emotional impact. I think memory is like a compression software; you can't remember everything so you prioritize what's important."

The live-action iteration will feature an all-star cast that includes Donald Glover as Simba, Beyoncé as Nala, Earl Jones as Mufasa, Chiwetel Ejiofor as Scar, Billy Eichner as Timon, and Seth Rogen as Pumbaa.

You can check out the preview in the video above. The Lion King will hit U.S. theaters July 19, 2019.
