The Least Sexy Movies About Sex

Though sex on the silver screen existed long before controversial filmmaker Lars von Trier started making movies, the Danish director is undoubtedly one of the art form's great provocateurs. In 1998, he started a trend of featuring un-simulated sex with The Idiots, an idea that directors like Catherine Breillat, Vincent Gallo, John Cameron Mitchell, and Michael Winterbottom later ran with. He's still doing it today with his two-part exploration of sexuality, Nymphomaniac, the first volume of which opened in limited theatrical release yesterday.
But von Trier isn't the the only director whose seeming obsession with sexual matters reminds us that T&A isn't always erotic. There are plenty of others, and here are their ice-on-your-balls movies. Or, rather, The Least Sexy Movies About Sex.
