You can’t go a week without being bombarded with comic book movie rumors nowadays, and this latest one from Latino-Review is just as intriguing as any. According to the site, Universal, and co-financer Legendary Pictures, have earmarked November 4, 2016 for an “Untitled Event Project.” After a little digging, sources told the site that the mystery project is an adaptation of Marvel’s Namor, a.k.a The Sub-Mariner.

This rumor makes sense because Namor is the last Marvel property left at Universal, and with comic book movies being the hottest thing in Hollywood at the moment, the studio could be looking at a big hit if it gets the right people involved. The site reached out to Legendary about the rumor, but the only response given was a cryptic “No comment.”

Obviously nothing is confirmed, but if Universal wants to put Namor into production, there is no better time than the present. As seen with Daredevil, eventually the rights will have to revert back to Marvel, leaving Universal with no superheroes left to exploit.
