Take a look at some alternate designs that Warner Bros. almost used for “Godzilla.”

Other than some fat-shaming, fans have been pretty universal in their praise of the new Godzilla design. And, really, there isn’t anything to complain about. Director Gareth Edwards took what worked from the original Toho design (which was basically everything) and modernized it for 2014.
Still, that wasn’t the first design that was considered for the movie, and courtesy of Shock Till You Drop, you can now see some of the earlier concept art for Godzilla. These images come straight from the Godzilla: The Art of Destruction book, which you can purchase right now. It's obvious to see that the team never strayed too far from the original look, but some have a much more pronounced dinosaur feel than the finished product.
