Hollywood legend Joan Rivers has been rushed to Mount Sinai hospital in New York after she reportedly stopped breathing during a procedure on her throat.
The 81-year-old comedian and TV personality was having surgery performed on her vocal chords at a separate in-patient clinic this morning when she reportedly stopped breathing. Details beyond that are a bit hazy at this point, but we’ll have more as it develops.
UPDATE: According to Page Six, Rivers is currently in critical condition. Her procedure was taking place at Yorkville Endoscopy on East 93rd street (near Third Avenue) in New York City when she stopped breathing around 9:40 this morning. TMZ says that at least one point, her heart stopped beating.
UPDATE 2: Page Six now reports that Rivers has been upgraded to stable condition:
