Everybody’s got their own superhero franchise these days, and CBS had no interest in being left out in the cold. After placing a full series order in September, the network has decided who will play the titular role on their own take on Supergirl: Melissa Benoist.
The actress was most recently seen playing Miles Teller’s girlfriend in Whiplash, and also appeared on Glee as one of the New Directions members. She also did two episodes of Homeland back in the show’s first season as a woman interviewing to be a part of a harem.
With competition like Gotham and The Flash on network TV, let’s hope that this role has a bit more to it than that one.
