Being an Apple collector is starting to become quite expensive. Storied auction house Sotheby's announced today that an Apple 1, the computer that Steve Jobs and Steve Wozniak built to start Apple Computers back in in 1976, sold for a record $374,500.

There are only 50 Apple 1s still in existence. An Italian collector paid $212,000 for one that came with a signed letter from Steve Jobs in 2010.

In the same Friday auction, another buyer bought a handwritten letter by Steve Jobs while he was working at Atari for $27,500.
