If you were into comedy in the early 90’s, you were probably a fan of the iconic sketch comedy group, Kids in the Hall. Made up of Canadian comedians Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson, the group formed in the late 80’s, with their TV show airing for 5 seasons on the CBC.

Since the show ended in 1994, they released one movie, called Brain Candy in 1996, got back together to do a tour in 2000, and released an 8-part miniseries in 2010 called Death Comes To Town.

Since the group is made up of all men, they would all often crossdress to play female characters, and that became one of their trademarks. They also often played themselves and wrote sketches about being in a comedy group. Monologues were a huge part of the sketch rotation as well with Scott Thompson’s, Buddy Cole, an effeminate, gay socialite being one of the most popular recurring characters.

Although you can get all the seasons of the show on DVD, there’s nothing quite like seeing it live. And fortunately, now you can. The five original cast members have reunited for a tour across Canada and parts of the U.S this spring.

They kicked off the tour in Toronto at the Danforth Music Hall on April 26th, and are on their way to New York next. But they’ll be back in Canada soon with dates scheduled in Calgary, Vancouver, Ottawa, Edmonton, and Winnipeg.

Other popular characters like Head Crusher, the Chicken Lady, Bauer, and the Sizzle Sisters are sure to make an appearance, along with some new some new material. Tickets will sell out quick, so get them before they’re gone!
