Looks like Chris Rock and wasn't the only one who turned down a chance to replace Jon Stewart on The Daily Show.
Schumer told The Daily Beast that she also was offered the gig that eventually went to virtually unknown (in the U.S.) South African comedian Trevor Noah.
It turns out Schumer's reasons for passing on the job weren't all that different from Rock's. According to the New York Times, Rock didn't want to commit to hosting the show past the 2016 presidential election.
Here's what Schumer said about it:
“I was so honored to be asked and considered. With Comedy Central, I project so much ‘You’re my parents!’ on the network and the people that run it, so them saying, ‘We believe in you and trust that you can do this,’ I thought, ‘Oh my god, thank you!’”
Nobody wanted to commit long term! For the record, Stewart will have hosted for more than 16 years when he steps down later this summer.
