With the arrival of the new live-action Chip ’n Dale: Rescue Rangers film on Disney+, Post Malone has shared his dramatic theme song.
The movie debuted on the streaming platform today, and alongside its release the soundtrack has arrived as well. While most of its music is composed by Brian Tyler, who mostly recently scored the fifth Scream, Post contributed a slick track for the adventure-comedy. The lyrics obviously aren’t quite as edgy as some fans might expect from Malone, but it’s certainly in the style of his more pop-oriented records. The theme arrives just days after Post dropped the video for “Cooped Up” featuring Roddy Ricch.
While Post’s contribution to a Chip ’n Dale reboot sounds like a bizarre choice, the new film goes for a very different approach. Akiva Schaffer of the Lonely Island directed the movie, which has John Mulaney and Andy Samberg voicing the titular roles. The rest of the cast includes Will Arnett, Seth Rogen, Keegan-Michael Key, and KiKi Layne among others.
The story has plenty of cameos, with characters from both Disney and non-Disney properties showing up. Weirdly, two cats from 2019’s Cats make an appearance, as do He-Man and Skeletor. Even weirder, Randy Marsh from South Park has a cameo, and so does Zack Snyder’s version of Batman. Is this Chip and Dale’s Multiverse of Madness?
