Following in the footsteps of Kratos, the Joker, Jason Voorhees, Freddy Krueger, the T-800, and still several other iconic characters before him, Robocop is set to leave his own creative universe to enter the Mortal Kombatarena as a playable fighter.Â
His character model was shown at the end of a trailer dropped by NetherRealm Studios to unveil the new expansion/story content that will be Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath. Fast forward to 2:15 if you want to watch that tease, or simply watch the first 2:15 because it's also pretty cool (you're on your own when it comes to spoilers though):Â
Robocop will be one of three characters added to the roster of the game, along with a pair of the series' own fighters (Sheeva and Fujin). He'll also be voiced by his real-life actor, Peter Weller:
So far, there isn't a whole lot of info on what moves he'll be packing, but NetherRealm employees did reveal he can use his side-arm and a shoulder-mounted cannon. It also looks like he's got a shield:
This all-new expansion, which will run you $40, will continue the story of MK11, which originally came out in April 2019 (hence the 'Aftermath' part of the title.)
This content will be available on all digital platforms on May 26.
And, even if you're an MK11 owner who doesn't feel convinced to spend an extra $40, a free update will still be made available that will have new arenas, stage fatalities, and friendships. So, if you want to give someone a large stuffed bear instead of putting them out of their misery, then that's a route you can go.
IGN reports that two classic stages which have been confirmed include The Dead Pool (which first showed up in Mortal Kombat 2), and The Soul Chamber (which first popped up three years after that, in Mortal Kombat 3) .
If you don't own MK11 but have now been convinced it's a worthy purchase, then you can buy the Mortal Kombat 11: Aftermath Kollection. This will give you the OG game, the expansion, and all the DLC, and will go for $60.
