Aneesh Chaganty's Run, originally slated for a January 2020 release, is out on Mother's Day weekend. On Thursday, Lionsgate came through with a new trailer for the horror/thriller production that promises a "dose of true paranoia."

The movie stars Sarah Paulson as Diane, the mother of Chloe (Kiera Allen). The two share what’s billed in the official synopsis as a possibly "sinister" relationship, a likelihood that's certainly well-represented in the newly released trailer:

Diane has raised her daughter in total isolation, controlling every move she’s made since birth, and there are secrets that Chloe's only beginning to grasp. From the visionary writers, producers and director of the breakout film Searching, comes a suspense thriller that shows that when mom gets a little too close, you need to RUN.

The script was penned by Chaganty and Sev Ohanian, whose 2018 thriller Searching—starring John Cho and Debra Messing—premiered at the Sundance Film Festival and went on to amass a plethora of critical acclaim.

Run star Kiera Allen spoke with Entertainment Weekly earlier this week, recalling how her character "leapt off the page" during her first read-through.

"I've said this before, even if the movie never came out and no one ever saw it, it would still have been a life-changing experience for me to have done it," Allen, who's making her film debut with Run, said.

See Run in theaters starting May 8.
