In theaters on November 27 is Lena Waithe and Melina Matsoukas' upcoming film, Queen & Slim. The feature, starring Jodie Turner-Smith and Daniel Kaluuya as Queen and Slim (respectively), follows the duo after an intense standoff with a police officer leads to one fateful decision that immediately changes the course of both of their lives.

During a New Orleans set visit in early 2019, we discovered that Queen & Slim is not just an eye-opening look at the issue of police violence; it's also a gripping road film featuring two people who didn't even hit it off on their first date. Today, we have an exclusive clip about the aforementioned impactful moment where they decide that they have to hit the road.

Queen & Slim will be in theaters on November 27, 2019. Check out a full synopsis of the film below.

While on a forgettable first date together in Ohio, a black man (Get Out’s Daniel Kaluuya) and a black woman (Jodie Turner-Smith, in her first starring feature-film role), are pulled over for a minor traffic infraction. The situation escalates, with sudden and  tragic results, when the man kills the police officer in self-defense. Terrified and in fear for their lives, the man, a retail employee, and the woman, a criminal defense lawyer, are forced to go on the run. But the incident is captured on video and goes viral, and the couple unwittingly become a symbol of trauma, terror, grief and pain for people across the country.
