Zombieland: Double Tap, timeless Twinkies and all, will bring the entire team from the now-a-decade-old original back together. As we're a week out from the sequel's theatrical drop, it's high time to assemble early reactions from those well-networked enough to have caught a pre-release screening.
Highly quotable phrases such as "you made me laugh good," "a time machine to 2009," "the Godzilla of zombie films," and "bloody blast" all appear here. Specific praise is given to the sequel's assortment of new cast members, with several early Double Tap viewers noting that their presence is complementary to the flick's comedic success and doesn't overshadow the OG stars.
Ahead of the film's actual release, peruse a selection of early reactions below.
During a recent Tonight Show pop-in, star Jesse Eisenberg understandably placed (some of) the blame for Zombieland 2's delay on a pair of Deadpool movies.
"We didn't wait, we were trying to do the movie right after the first one because the first one was so popular," he said. "And we just couldn't, like, we waited for the best script. In the meantime, the two writers [Rhett Reese and Paul Wernick] did Deadpool and then we were kinda waiting for them to finish that so they could write this."
Eisenberg is joined once again in Double Tap by Woody Harrelson, Emma Stone, and Abigail Breslin. Rosario Dawson, Zoey Deutch, Luke Wilson, and Thomas Middleditch are among those who are new to the franchise, which will also see the return of none other than Bill Motherfucking Murray. Catch it Friday, Oct. 18.
