Though the script forThor: Love and Thunder is finally complete, there's still one big question looming over the film: Will the God of Thunder get back his ripped physique? Or will he return to the screen at his Avengers: Endgame weight?

"This is an ongoing debate that we're still having at Marvel," director Waititi recently told Yahoo! "Cause we're trying to figure out how long — how many months or years — this is after Endgame, at what point does this take place? I think we always want to keep changing it up with Thor. He's so interesting when he's changing all the time."

Judging by Waititi's desire to continue "changing it up," it's safe to assume Thor will shed his gut for his fourth solo film.

Portrayed by Chris Hemsworth, Thor underwent a drastic physical transformation in the last installment of Avengers. The Norse God had fallen into a deep depression after failing to defeat Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War, resulting in a massive weight gain. Hemsworth said he enjoyed playing a fluffier version of his character, aka "Lebowski Thor," as it shattered expectations.

"It was so different than any other way I played the character. And then it took on a life of its own," he told Variety. "... Physically, it was a good three hours in hair and makeup. Then the prosthetic suit, particularly for the shirt-off scene, that was a big silicone that weighed about 90 pounds. It was certainly exhausting. I had weights on my hands and ankles just to have my arms and legs swing differently when I shuffled along through the set."

Hemsworth will star in Love and Thunder alongside Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie and Natalie Portman as Jane Foster. The movie is expected to hit theaters Nov. 5, 2021.
